Comments: New Obesity Measuresfrom MN Community Measurement and theEndocrine Society
The co-chairs of the Obesity Care Advocacy Network (OCAN) appreciate the opportunity to offer comments in response to the MN Community Measurement and the Endocrine Society’s new measures aimed at improving the health outcomes and reducing modifiable risks for patients with obesity.
We appreciate MNCM and ES efforts in crafting these measures. The importance of healthcare quality measurement to improve outcomes is clear. However, there are very few quality measures established to drive optimal outcomes for people with obesity.
Overall, OCAN supports all 4 proposed measures and includes below some minor modifications, primarily to broaden the list of eligible provider types and more finely tune the patient population to exclude certain types of patients for whom care may be less widely appropriate than the general population.
