OCAN Launches New Digital Awareness Campaign and Animated Video Targeting Providers and Pharmacists on Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program

Campaign aims to spark proactive clinician-patient conversations so eligible beneficiaries can access FDA-approved GLP-1 obesity medications for a $50 monthly copay

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Obesity Care Advocacy Network (OCAN) launched a nationwide, digital awareness campaign alongside a new educational animated video to ensure healthcare providers and pharmacists are active partners in expanding access to obesity care. The initiative is designed to drive clinician awareness of the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program, encouraging providers to initiate conversations and evaluate patient eligibility for affordable treatment.

According to data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), more than 600,000 Medicare beneficiaries have already enrolled in the GLP-1 Bridge Program. The temporary CMS demonstration allows eligible Part D beneficiaries to access select FDA-approved obesity medications for a flat $50 monthly copay through December 31, 2027. Despite rapid uptake, OCAN emphasizes that thousands of eligible beneficiaries remain unaware of the opportunity or how to navigate the enrollment process with their care team.

“While 600,000 Medicare beneficiaries have already taken advantage of this groundbreaking program, far too many are still missing out simply because they don't know it exists,” said Cristy Gallagher, Coordinator of the Obesity Care Advocacy Network. “Our multi-channel campaign is built specifically to reach providers and pharmacists at the point of care. We want to empower clinicians to start the conversation, identify eligible patients, and help them secure access to obesity treatment.”

The new digital campaign delivers targeted education across digital and professional channels directly to prescribers and pharmacy teams. Key campaign assets, including the new animated educational video, walk clinicians through the clinical qualification criteria, prior authorization steps to access care, and practical steps to connect patients with coverage.
